Venue: art space pool, Seoul Website:http://altpool.org/
Pool (formerly known as Alternative Space Pool) has just com- pleted its renovation, which had been going on all winter, on the 16th of April and opened its newly refreshed space to the public. Pool was established by artists in 1999 as a 1st genera- tion alternative art space. It has been a space of vibrant expe- rimental exhibitions and activities and alternative solutions to issues pertaining to art. The place now welcomes its third co- mmittee under the directorship of Heejin Kim, who served as a curator at Insa Art Space, an affiliated organization to the Arts Council Korea. Through the new committee, the organization changed its name from 'Alternative Space Pool' to 'Pool' and is expected to focus on expanding its network through a regular arrangement of workshops and international exchange programs. The anticipated first event of 2010 is a program called 'Day of Confidence.' This program, which was composed of the follow- ing 6 parts: a space reconfiguration project, an archive project, a performance event, a musical and dance performance, and Masil tales, was continuously held at Pool in Gugi-dong and at the new cultural space ggooll in Itaewon. ggooll, which is run by Choi Jung-hwa, an artist, and Pool will be running a coopera- tive project 'ggoollpool' over the next two years.
