The international sound festival, Sound Effects Seoul 2010, is holding its third show under the theme of Sound Specific. The event, which was mainly curated by Independent curator Yang Ji-yoon and sound artist Baruch Gottlieb, provided an opportun- ity to reflect on sound art after the two preceding successes of Sound Art Installation and Radio Art. This event, borrowing the concept of site specificity from the polemics of contemporary art, turns the soundscape of Seoul in to a piece of art through field recordings, which refers to recor- dings literally done in the field, and it is taking place at gallery Sangsang madang in the Hongik University area and at Space Hamilton in Itaewon. Geoff Robinson, a sound artist from Australia, will play a collec- tion of sounds he recorded in Samcheong Park between the 19th to 30th of December 2009 at the Museum and media artist Yangachi will show a sound installation work that overlaps the real space with an actual space. Alice Hui-Sheng Chang, who has been actively giving performances, worked collaboratively with sound artist, Chulki Hong, on a performance and sound in- stalltion piece.
